Online Poker Site Reaches 1.5 Million Players
Since the passing of the UIGEA there are only a small number of American based
online casinos that can be considered legal. Because of the legal terms that are
allowing these few elite online gambling sites to remain in business, all of the
American players are flocking in large numbers so they can keep on playing their
favorite games. One of the sites that are claiming its legality in the United
States is the online casino poker company PurePlay. Recently PurePlay has
announced that their player rank has reached over 1.5 million players and the
prize disbursement has reached more that $4 million since November 2005.
"We are committed to staying at the forefront of legal online poker, and that
means pulling out the stops in giving our members the excitement of competitive
play and generous cash prizes without exposing them to the risk of losing their
own money," said PurePlay CEO Jason Kellerman. "No other poker site has
implemented this approach as successfully as we have in attracting players at
all levels and delivering an online gaming experience that keeps them coming
back."
The PurePlay online casino is based out of San Francisco and hosts online poker
tables and tournaments. The user set allows players to play-for-free or
subscribe by paying a monthly fee, to the gaming service. Subscribers have more
privaledges than play-for-free players, such as personalized player ratings that
allow them to play gamers similar to themselves, live chat customer support, no
ads during their game play, and entrance into tournaments that have monthly
prizes up $150,000.
PurePlay advertises that the reason for its popularity is because of the large
number of different tournaments that it offers, but makes no mention of the fact
that their privileged legality. One of the main reasons that this online casino
is unparalleled is that it has sent more players to the WSOP Main Event in Las
Vegas than any other online casino. The seats to the WSOP are handed out as
prizes for designated tournaments.
