eCOGRA Resolves a Majority of Complaints
If you have ever felt like you have been wronged by an online casino, you have
probably contacted the eCommerce Online Gambling Regulations and Assurance
(eCOGRA). eCOGRA recently published their half year mark numbers of complaint
and the statistics behind them. The report was released by eCOGRA’s Fair Gaming
Advocate, Tex Rees.
The complaints went down an impressive 19% when compared to last year’s numbers
and that is not the only good news, 50% of the complaints were resolved in favor
of the player. eCOGRA has a list of 131 approved online casinos. All of the
complaints that they received this year were not all from approved websites.
That was the reason why out of 346 total complaints received 50 were thrown out
immediately. In order for an online casino complaint to be submitted to eCOGRA
with hope of resolve, it has to be certified by them.
After eCOGRA threw out the 50 invalid complaints they dismissed 36 more because
they were either false or not enough information was submitted. The final count
of claims actually investigated was 260 and an overwhelming 127 were resolved on
behalf of the player. This is awesome for any online casino player to know that
there are places you can play without fear of fraud. If you were wondering, 58
of the online casino complaints were dealing with bonuses or extra prizes
promised. Forty four of those were prompted by account lock outs.
The conclusion is simple: BE CAREFUL. Read the fine print when you are signing
up for things at online casinos. Online gambling can be tricky for the ones that
are new at it so to be safe, go to a site that is approved by eCOGRA. You can
visit the eCOGRA website to get the list of the approved online casino websites.
