Online Gambling Psychology is a College Program
The world of online casinos has seen a lot of development over the last couple
of years none quite as interesting as this: a college program dedicated to the
studying of online casino psychology. The Nottingham Trent University has a new
masters program titled Cyber Psychology. Beginning October of 2008 students who
have received an undergraduate degree may apply to get in to the ground breaking
program.
This area of study will not only cover online casino psychology but online
health, education, cyber crime, social networking and even artificial
intelligence. One of the founders of the program, Mark Griffiths, said that this
area of study was created due to popular demand. With the growing popularity of
social networking sites like Facebook and MySpace becoming staples in every high
school student’s homepages, it’s no wonder this area was in such high demand.
Dr. Monica Whitty of Nottingham Trent University says that this program will
prove to be demanding because they will have to research the history of online
casinos and keep up with the ever changing and fast paced world of the internet.
Soon, a PhD program will also be available. The online casino and its players
have often been the subject of thesis papers and college studies.
The online casino industry is particularly pleased with the announcement of this
trend because now their prospective employees will be better equipped to further
their sites. With any hope, by the time these students finish up their masters
the United States legislature will have made progress in the legalization of
online gambling. If they do, I know just where they should get the advisors
from.
