New Approach to Online Casinos
The online casino industry in the United States has always had a love hate
relationship with government and the authority figures. At the moment the United
States government has been stuck in a conservative rut even though it seems like
there are millions of Americans who enjoy gambling at online casinos. It does
not seem like the voice of those millions of people are being heard and that the
authority figures of the United States to the trust online casinos and the
Internet gambling industry. As far as the online casino industry is concerned
there is a blatant mistrust from the United States government which extends all
the way back to the year 2006 when the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement
Act was passed and therefore banned online casinos from the United States.
The online casino industry was put on hold in 2006 when the legislative changes
occurred in the United States. Times have changed drastically since that time,
to start is a completely different financial climate not just in the United
States but globally. The online casino industry has also changed in the past
couple of years. In the past couple of months it seems like there is an
undeniable momentum which will eventually repealed the ban against online
casinos in the United States. The man that is leading the fight for the online
casino industry is Rep. Barney Frank. The hope for some of these politicians is
that they will see the benefits of the money will be raised from taxation of
online casinos and Internet gambling. The public will need to see exactly how
the government will spend that money. Things that need to get accomplished like
health care reform would be easier to do with all the revenue that taxing online
casino will bring.
Only time will tell exactly what will happen with the online casino in the
United States. Hopefully the new legislation will provide opportunities that
have not been around since online casinos were banned in 2006. The change in
legislation may not change the minds of people towards gambling, but maybe
legalizing and taxing Internet gambling will actually do some good.
