Most online casino gamblers have probably heard of Cryptologic before. One of
the gaming industry's pioneering software developers, Cryptologic has an
esteemed reputation with players. Their graphics are phenomenal and the security
protocols used on their platform are state-of-the-art. In fact, at the time of
being introduced, many of Cryptologic's innovations were considered
unprecedented.
With this in mind, I was much more inclined to recently give some attention
to a new online skill game of sorts, called UTour Golf. Developed by Groove
Games Limited, which owns the Skillground online gaming website, and whose board
of directors consist of Cryptologic's founder, Mark Rivkin and Chief Financial
Officer, Harvey Solursh, UTour Golf came with some reputable backing, if you
know what I mean.
The whole reason why UTour Golf is in the news in the first place is because
Skillground (which was launched earlier this year) has started a massive
advertising campaign to draw more traditional online casino gamblers to take up
the virtual clubs. Using the phrase, "It's always more fun when there's money on
the game", Skillground has even placed adds through Yahoo. Yes that's right. I
saw a massive tower ad alongside my mail in-box. Only there was no mention of
Skillground, which could be considered a legal grey area in the light, or should
I say darkness, of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (Let's call it
the UGLEA instead of the UIGEA from now on).
After clicking on the ad, however, a slick diversion takes visitors to a
Skillground landing page, which is actually where you can view an impressive
trailer of UTour Golf. Let me just say that Cryptologic is definitely behind the
development of this game because the graphics are pretty phenomenal.
The way Skillground works is that members can challenge other members to
games, all with real money on the line. Since no money is technically paid out
by Skillground like it is at online casinos, the service could be considered
safe under the brutality of the UGLEA. With new improvements made to the UTour
Golf betting platform, including handicap scoring, skins playing mode and
private group rounds, I am tempted to give the game a shot even though I'm
hardly a fan of golf.
