I guess it's been a while since I last talked about Bodog. Or has it not? I
don't know. The only reason I ask is because I like to keep my "exposure" on
Bodog to a minimum. To be honest, I really don't care much for the whole "Bodog
lifestyle" and Calvin Ayre's antics. But I suppose it's a good place to do some
online casino gambling and play some poker. Thousands of other players thing so
- especially those in the U.S. (wink, wink). Besides, Bodog gets itself in the
news so much that it's practically impossible to not write them up. Believe me,
I am not that annoyed with Ayre's domain battle to purposefully avoid mentioning
Bodog in the news at Online Casino Scrutiny.
Okay, so what's going on at Bodog then? Well, aside from getting close to
having their billionth poker hand played since being launched in 2004 (which
they are going to celebrate in November by awarding escalating money prizes for
every 5 millionth hand dealt), Bodog is now sporting a new look. Call it a
design based on player feedback, the biggest change to the online poker room is
in the layout of the player's sitting around the table. Now a non-linear design,
players will be able to follow the action around the table much easier than
before.
Other software features include resized and repositioned cards, multiple felt
color options, highlighted players "on action", chip stacks and bet sizes marked
by denomination and a centralized playing dashboard that allows for quick and
easy in-hand action. Apparently, all this is just the first installment of a
series of upgrades that will take place over several months. Bodog says that new
players will get the upgraded software platform by default download, while
existing players will have the option to upgrade to the new platform. Doesn't
sound too bad, does it? Keep it up Bodog and I'll have no choice but to write
you up in more news articles. Oh wait, I already do that.
