The plan created by the European Union over 10 years ago was made to help an
information based economy. Being in the world that we are today, where most of
our business is done through the Internet a plan that was written 10 years ago
will need some serious updates. Any plan that is made has to have the best
interest of the global economy and fairness of trade in mind. There have been
mixed messages sent in the United States on whether or not they would be part of
the global trader as outlined by the European Union. The digital revolution is
just getting started an online-based businesses, like the online casino
industry, will have to become part of the plan rather than the enemy.
One of the countries that has become a great example of strict censorship in
both its cultural and political realms is China. What it comes down to, seems to
be what democratic governments will end up deciding is worthy of their
protection, whether or not online casinos make that list is up in the air. The
online casino industry is one of the most heavily discussed businesses in the
world. The United States has been under scrutiny by organizations like the World
Trade Organization which decided that the United States ban on online gambling
was illegal. The way that the organization saw the United States decision was as
if it was a decision made soley on the United States’ financial interest. They
believe that the United States had a financial interest in the horse racing
industry and that's why they did not ban gambling altogether.
The United States is no longer competing in the world economic stage of online
casinos. The World Trade Organization and the European Union have been working
together to clear the air and create clear rules for e-commerce and Web trade.
Their countries that are acting on online casino industry related issues as if
it is a matter of economic security. What the public does expect from their
governments protect their economy and their domestic industries. One of these
days these organizations will calm together and decide on what is best for the
people, until then we wait.
