European Parliament Talks Sports: 3
Two gentlemen, one from South Africa, Hans Cronje and the other from Liverpool,
Bruce Grobbelaar have expressed their opinions on how sports betting has
affected them. Cronje is a cricket player and Grobbelaar is a goalkeeper their
claim is that betting syndicates have influenced players to the row or
influenced a match or a game. The online casino industry does not have this
problem, but it is still a very real issue. The public will have a chance to
voice their opinion on this issue in front of the committee as they look at new
challenges that are being presented to them because of Internet gaming and
gambling. Particular attention is there to be paid to illegal sports betting
activities and game fixing by the players.
This debate by the European Parliament will surely provide some answers from the
European gambling industry. Not every country is as progressive about online
casinos and sports betting as the country is better and the European Union are.
It should be very interesting to see what the Parliament decides on after they
have their debate. Players of certain websites done that on sports regularly
online are getting in and see and want to find out once and for all what will
happen with their ability to wager on their favorite team. Once the European
Union decides on how they will regulate sports betting online, the online casino
industry will have several questions answered for them as well. As we all know,
sports betting is accepted more widely than online casinos or poker rooms. So we
will keep you updated on the decisions made in the European Parliament and how
they affect the players, because without players there is no sports betting
industry.
