The UK Protects Gamblers: 1

The Parliament in the United Kingdom is calling the government to action. The issue at hand seems to be that of people getting into debt because of online casinos. So the par where the government is supposed to come in is to try to educate the public on how an online casino works and the dangers of wagering too much money in hopes of winning big. The reason why there has been such a large call to action may be due to the fact that there are over 7 thousand online casinos operating that are available to the United Kingdom. The problem with that is that not all of those internet gambling websites are being effectively regulated. One of the main concerns is going to be tackling the gambling addictions of the country.

Gerry Sutcliffe who is the minister responsible over this issue said that they will be spending £15 million on trying to cure the public or at least control the public’s gambling addiction. In the last three months the unemployment in the United Kingdom rose by 165,000 which means that there are now over two million unemployed people living in the United Kingdom. This is a number that has not been seen in over a decade. The last time that the unemployment was so high was in 1997. Traditionally in hard times like this people turn to entertainment or any way of distracting them from the reality of their situation. It seems like the online casino and internet gambling websites was where a lot of people turned to.
