Australians Debate: 2

The big issue going on in Australia has affected the online casino industry but it will affect all of the internet in general. There have been months of debates that have occurred on this one issue in particular, all of which has pretty much lead to nowhere. The Australian Government seems like it is genuinely stuck and does not know what direction to go with. The websites that would be black listed in Australia has grown from a current 1370 to a potential 10,000 websites that could be banned from the country which includes a lot of online casinos. There a whole lot of people who are taking these decisions made by the Australian government very seriously.

The Australian Communications and Media Authority recently had threatened to hose a broadband discussion forum. The reason why they threatened to host this forum was because there was a $11,000 a day fine placed on anyone who published a link on their forum that was on the black list that was created by the Australian government and the Australian Communication and Media Authority. That is a pretty hefty fine which not even an online casino could afford to swallow. People have been jumping all over this issue and giving their opinions on who should and should not be able to control the content that people access on the internet in Australia. The fear of a lot of people is that the censorship will expand to a number that is ridiculous and beyond what the original estimation was. Online casinos and internet gambling sites are awaiting the final decision in order to decide whether they will keep their businesses in Australia.
