Poker Clubs on the Rise

Due to the current United States regulations against online casinos, there have been new ways found to gamble online in the US. According to the US law, players are unable to send money directly to an online casino or gambling website directly from their bank or financial institution. This, however, does not exclude online clubs and third party payment websites. It seems like the subscription based online clubs have become a huge hit in the United States. This has become the best way for poker players to be able to play online poker without any legal ramifications. The plan for the website is not that of the traditional online casino. The players are not required to put down a deposit or even supply a buy in.

The players who sign up to the website will be paying a $20 a month fee. They will then be able to earn ‘points’ that can be put towards buying their way into a tournament hosted by the non online casino. The website that has done the best thus far is the World Poker Tour Enterprises website which is listed in Nasdaq. The website is called ClubWPT.com and it began in early 2008. The website recently hit a milestone of its $2 millionth prize money awarded. Their business is not limited to that of the United States, they have subscribers from countries where online casinos are legal. Although the sites seem like they would be the solution to a big problem in the United States, not every website of this kind has succeeded and lived to tell the same tale that the World Poker Tour Enterprises website is able to tell.
