Party Gaming Plans for Future
The Chief Executive Officer of Party Gaming, Jim Ryan, fears for the future of
online casinos and online poker websites. In his opinion there will only be
about 5 major online poker websites due to mergers and consolidations. We have
seen a lot of examples of this growing trend over the last several months and it
seems that it may continue to be the case. His statement was followed by one of
his intention to make sure that his online casino, Party Poker is one of the
last standing major online poker websites. The CEO told the newspaper fro the
United Kingdom, The Financial Times, that he understands the level of
competition that is out there, particularly in Europe.
He knows that his online casino will have to spend more money to attract the
class of high rollers that other major poker sites attract on a regular basis,
such as Full Tilt and Poker Stars. Ryan says that the way to do so will be to
higher the stakes of their marketing team and buy more into the demands of the
media. He told the newspaper that he is frustrated with the afore mentioned
online poker sites, Full Tilt and Poker Stars, because they are still offering
their services to players from the United States. This is after the passage of
the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act of 2006 and all online casinos
were advised to not service the customers in the United States due to possible
litigation. This has created an unfair advantage for the other websites because
they have access to a whole other market that Party Gaming will not service due
to their high standards of practice.
With a new incoming administration, the laws on online casino play in the United
States may change in the near future. With that in mind Ryan is keeping his eye
on the prize and taking a more aggressive approach to helping his online poker
site prosper in the upcoming years. He told the reporter of The Financial Times,
“We need to retake the hill and position ourselves to be that leader again. Our
job, frankly speaking, is to take share back.”
