Bitter-Sweet Lottery Win
It is pretty safe to assume that everyone has a fantasy about winning the
lottery or hitting the jackpot at an online casino, right? Well, could you
imagine winning a lottery gift from the grave? It turns out that this is exactly
what happened to Charlotte Peters. The story is a very tragic, uplifting and
bitter sweet. A 59 year old man from Danbury, Connecticut bought his wife a
lottery ticket before he shortly there after tragically died after suffering
from a heart attack. The ticket he purchased for his wife won $10 million. His
wife told reporters that this was very much like his sense of humor. He used to
joke and say that if he won at the lottery or at any of the tons of online
casinos it would be funny if he died and did not get to use any of it.
The pair were definitely big fans of the lottery. They would buy lottery tickets
together as a form of bonding. She was shocked by the sudden death of her
husband, so much so that she almost threw away the ticket that he had as a part
of his belongings. They did not partake in online casino play as much as they
played in the lottery, but this is still a very heart wrenching story of the
price of winning big. Her husband did not live long enough to know that he had
purchased the winning lottery ticket for his beloved wife of over 20 years. She
told reporters that over the span of their twenty year marriage they would each
choose their own numbers for the lottery and she would always pick odd numbers.
She told reporters that she, “I was in the grocery store and I had it checked
and they told me I was a winner. I had no idea how much it was." She originally
thought that she had won $6 million and was shocked to find out that she won $10
million. She was then asked what she would do with her winnings, to which she
replied, ““I've always wanted a Corvette, but I don't think I'll buy one,”
Charlotte said. “I'll stick to a small car. I might go to the Mohegan Sun. I’m
going to go home and sit and think."
