Spain Moves Towards Regulation

On the 8th of March, 2009 there will be an official proposal made to the Spanish Ministry of the Interior for the online casino and gambling regulations to be updates. The Comision Nacional del Juego is what the proposal’s official name is and the hope is to finally have set rules and regulations for Spanish online casinos. The conference will take place in Madrid at the Inter Continental Hotel and will host several heavy hitters in the industry as they debate the future of their industry in Spain. The Online Gambling in Spain- A Regulatory Update event will host several operators, regulators and advisers that will engage in debates which will hopefully affect the online casino industry in Spain for the better.

To open up the online casino event, the Technical Secretary General from the Ministry of Interior, Maria Angeles Gonzalez will give the opening address to all of the participants of the conference. Her speech sill hopefully set the tone for the weekend of online casinos and internet gambling debates. This conference is very important because there will be investors who want to invest in the online casino industry but are held back by the fact that the industry seems plagued by government regulations. With these valuable concerns in mind, these investors still understand the fact that change is in the air and with enough persuasion, the government may give in to at least some of the industry’s requests. At the end of the day all of these investors need to understand the risks involved with the online casino industry.
