New Deal for New South Wales
There are now plenty more choices for the people of New South Wales that like to
gamble at online casinos. The newest reports state that the West Tigers struck a
new deal with Betfair which will provide internet gambling fans with many more
places to gamble. The people of Australia can legally gamble at online casinos,
however rules and regulations vary in the different regions. If you have never
heard of Betfair then you may not be familiar with the online casino industry.
Betfair is based out of the United Kingdom and is one of the largest bet
exchanging companies in the whole world. They have an impressive roster of
clients which reaches to over two million clients. Betfair also has a revenue
turnover of £50m per week.
Even though this company was created half of a world away from the Australian
outback, the expertise that Betfair has in the realm of online casinos can only
benefit the country. This deal that has been written with Betfair and the Tigers
has taken a long time to be completed, in fact it almost took a year for the
whole deal to be completed with the online casino. There was a lot of studying
and research done by both parties to ensure a smooth transition and that the
partnership remained profitable for them as well. It was reported by the Sun
Herald, which is a New South Wales newspaper that their football clubs are
currently struggling. The poker machines that existed in town were no longer
being taxed and players were still getting paid their large salaries.
Online casinos often rely on sports betting for a certain amount of revenue. The
West Tigers realize how profitable the online casino industry is and that is why
this partnership may work out. The marketing manager of the West Tigers, Brett
Clarke said, "We're in partnership, not sponsorship," adding, "We will deliver
key marketing objectives. We aren't being promised revenue share [like other
clubs]. It is a marketing split. We're not relying on the club's supporters to
put money into their club [via a gambling site]." The representative from
Betfair, Hugh Taggart said, said "While the Australian Football League provided
the bulk of their business last year, they had more customers in New South Wales
than anywhere else in Australia. According to the Roy Morgan Data company the
Wests Tigers has a fan base of almost half a million, making them the most
popular in New South Wales. The club has had the highest turn out numbers at
it's matches in Sydney over the past three years. It has solid sponsorship and a
money making merchandising division.”
