Japan May Welcome Online Casinos: 2
Japan may soon be allowing the online casino industry a chance to operate within
its borders. According to recent reports the new party that is ruling Japan, the
Liberal Democratic Party, has opened up the discussion for the possibility of
having online casinos in their country. Japan has a population of over 128
million people and the fact that it is uncharted territory has online casino
operators chomping at the bit for a chance to open up one of their casinos in
the very populated country. Not only is Japan a very large country but they are
relatively wealthy and they also have a government that is very responsible and
looks after their citizens. Japanese people are constantly looking for new forms
of entertainment, especially when the new form of entertainment is also a
budding form of technology.
The current state of their progress is that the Japanese government is studying
the gambling status of all of their neighboring Asian countries. They are namely
studying how the introduction of online casinos has affected Singapore and
Macau. They were affected positively in the sense that the online casino
industry provided their countries higher tax revenues from the regions that
allowed internet gambling. The legalization of land based gambling may also
affect their tourism industry which has currently not been attracting as many
tourists as they have seen in the previous years.
Online casinos will not become legal in Japan overnight, as their legislative
progress is pretty slow. But as it stands right now the online casino industry
may be able to bet on the fact that they will have a new region to spread their
business to in the very near future. The Japanese government has even said that
they hope that their land based and online casino industries will be open and
ready for business after 2010. The Japanese government has also stated that if
and when they allow internet gambling to become legalized it will be strictly
enforced and controlled by them. This will help minimize problems typically
associated with the online casino industry.
