Spider Man, Spider Man, if no one can do
it, call Spiderman! Isn't that how the sound goes? You know, duh, duh, dah, duh
- a commercialized crescendo on the end. Can't you hear it through the words?
Alright okay, it's a lost cause. But the real question I want to know is whether
WagerLogic's new Spiderman online casino slot is a lost cause as well? Yep,
that's right, Cryptologic is prepping the online casino gambling world with the
upcoming release of their latest Marvel Series online slot.
So far, Cryptologic has launched ten
different Marvel games (Thor, Silver Surfer, X-Men, Iron Man, Hulk, Punisher,
Ghost Rider, Elektra, Daredevil, Blade). Developed by Cryptologic's subsidiary
software designer, WagerLogic, the first batch of the games were launched little
over two years ago when Cryptologic secured exclusive rights to theme online
slot machines on Marvel's wildly popular comic book series characters. Since
that time, Cryptologic has periodically released more games, not to mention
renewed their licensing rights with Marvel.
So now it's time for Spidey. And I have to
be honest and say I have my doubts. I personally have not been impressed at all
with Cryptologic's Marvel slots. If you ask me, they just amount to any online
slot with a different cosmetic design and themed reels. I was intrigued when
they first came out. But when I logged into InterCasino to play them, my first
impression was that the graphics were nothing impressive. At least they fell
short of my expectations.
What really makes me cynical (oh boy, here
I go...the more I write about it, the more it irks me), is that Cryptologic is
just turning this into a business deal. There's no pride in the product.
Cryptologic even said in a press release, "There's brand equity behind Spider
Man that's massive". In other words, we're just doing this because we know you
popular Spider Man is and that translates into lots of business and money. Maybe
they'll be able to attract the little kids who love Spiderman the most, right?
Well, not to pass too much judgment (a
little is necessary), Cryptologic says they are confident their upcoming Marvel
slots will be the "best slots ever". It sounds like they are following the lead
of Rival Gaming's iSlots, which in my opinion, are the most graphically advanced
and entertaining slots on the Web. Rather than just offering spinning reels, the
new games will incorporate an evolving storyline in true comic book fashion,
giving an added dimension of entertainment. Well, we shall see whether Spidey
and Cryptologic can cast their Web in the world of online casino gambling. Other
Marvel games to expect in the future are the Fantastic Four.
