Las Vegas Legislations
The United States is getting closer to a final verdict on where they stand
against the legalization of online casinos. The online casino industry has been
trying to get their footing back in the United States since the Unlawful
Internet Gambling Enforcement Act was passed in 2006. Currently online casino
and internet gambling operators are looking to the gambling capital of the
United States: Las Vegas, Nevada. If the bill that has been introduced to the US
Senate by Representative Barney Frank does pass, then Sin City may be the best
place for online casino operators to set up their businesses. The fact that the
online casino industry is looking to Las Vegas as its potential future home
makes perfect sence as the area is completely conducive to the structure that is
needed to run a successful gambling operation.
Las Vegas is a city which is already structured with its own working laws on the
gambling front. They already have a system set up for their licensing fees and
they also have a competitive edge that other states do not have. Las Vegas has
the lowest taxes in the Unites States when gambling. Many casino operators in
the area are already preparing for the change in legislation just in case Barney
Frank’s bill does pass. They do not want to be caught un prepared if the online
casino industry is given the green light to operate in the United States. The
Chairman of Nevada Gaming Control Board, Dennis Neilander has been asked a lot
of question on this topic. Neilander recently told the Las Vegas Review Journal,
“Nevada’s existing laws could easily be tweaked to conform to proposed federal
rules. Our legislation is already in place to move forward in the concepts that
have been discussed.” We hope that all of the issues that Las Vegas has will be
ironed out if and when the online casino legislation does pass.
