Lottery Service War: 3
GTech has been a pretty successfully run state lottery systems provider. They
run their business in a very similar way to online casino software provider.
They study the trends and improve the technology in their particular field and
then they try to win the bidding war when someone is on the look out for a new
service provider, the only difference is that their software does not go to
online casinos or internet gambling websites, it goes to lottery vendors. The
latest news with GTech is that they are currently the preferred bidder in the
war for the New York State lottery which would mean that they would have a huge
deal ready to be signed. New York is one of the most populated states in the
United States and it would mean a great deal to GTech if they could secure the
multi-year deal with the state.
The New York state lottery is currently looking to negotiate with a lottery
systems software provider for seven years. They would not only be responsible
for supplying the state with the software for the lottery terminals but they
would also be responsible for providing them with the online software to give
the citizens of New York a chance to purchase their lottery tickets online. It
would not be quite like an online casino, but it would definitely have the
convenience factor taken care of. GTech has been in the lottery technology
business since 1986 and have been in business with New York from right around
the same time. Their chances of securing the deal with New York are pretty good
since they have such a long history with the state. The details of the deal are
expected to be revealed and finalized by June 10, 2009.
