Lottery Service War: 2
Intralot is no stranger to the world of the United States and how their laws
work with lotteries and online casinos. So the fact that they signed another
deal with a state run lottery does not come as a surprise to most people in the
online casino industry or in the land based gambling industry. They were not the
only company that was bidding for the rights to be able to supply these stated
with the software that would run their lotteries for the next ten years. GTech
was also a key player in the bidding war against Intralot. After all, GTech did
hold the contract with the Louisiana Lottery Corporation since 1991. That is not
good news for GTech because they obviously lost out on one of their major
clients.
You do not have to feel too bad for GTech, they recently announced that their
contract with the Minnesota State Lottery for at least the next three years. As
a part of their recently signed three year extension they will be providing the
state of Minnesota with self service and multimedia products. GTech has been
supplying the Minnesota State Lottery with their lottery products since 2002.
The people from GTech predict that they will see at least $25 million in
revenues per year due to their contract with the Minnesota State Lottery, those
numbers are projected until February of 2013. The online casino industry has
been aware of how much money that state lotteries rake in each and every year
and they have been trying to find a way to take advantage of it but with no
success.
