Study Reveals Addiction Issues: 2
There is always a study that has a new fact or two about gambling in an online
casino. This time the results may be a bit of a warning to those who love to
frequent the online casinos. The first warning is that all online casino players
should know that this study concluded that the people who gamble on the internet
are four times more likely to develop an addiction than those who gamble at a
traditional or land based atmosphere. Not many people are surprised by the
figures that the study released. In fact this may strengthen some government’s
desires to design a ban or a method of more strictly regulating the internet
gambling industry in their own countries.
This is a very real issue for a lot of countries and there are a lot of people
out there who have become victims of gambling addiction due to the addictive
nature of online casinos. There is belief that studies like this will lead to
better regulation. Some have suggested that there needs to be as much regulation
for the gaming industry. The results of this study that said how Australia is
one of the two leading countries in online casino usage does not leave much room
for surprise for things like the following. In Australia last month the online
casino Centrebet released their monthly numbers that revealed their 23 cent jump
in revenue. The company is expecting for revenue growth to be steady especially
in Australia for the remainder of the year.
The Salvation Army’s problem gambling service coordinator, Gerard Byrne said:
"We would encourage bans on any capability to gamble on credit and believe the
Federal Government should take a lead on this. People are certainly reporting
more and more usage of online gambling. We've got a culture in NSW where
gambling is the state pastime." This does not leave a clear picture about the
future of the online casino industry, but at least it is being discussed openly.
