The Golden Nugget Lawsuit

The fight between online casinos and land based casinos wages on. This time it is the attorneys that are representing the land based casinos who are going after the online casinos which they claim are infringing on their trademarks and profiting from them. These online casinos are being referred to as cybersquatters have been taken to the United States courtrooms by some of the biggest names on the Las Vegas Strip. One example is the land based casino, The Golden Nugget, which has sued Mystic City Entertainment and Rami Ladki who are both currently residing in Canada. The two online casino creators claim that they came up with the phrase “goldenhugget” by themselves. The problem is that the website links its players to competitors of the Las Vegas casino, The Golden Nugget. The competitors that there are links to from this internet gambling website are Harrah’s and Freemont casino, just to name a few.

The lawsuit is currently underway and has claimed that the website is causing confusion for the customers who may believe that the Golden Nugget casino is some how affiliated with the online casino. The law firm that is working on the case are Lauri Thompson, Ronald Green Jr., Mark Tratos and Laraine Burrell who are all lawyers at the firm Greenberg Taurig. This case is not one that is very uncommon, online casinos have been accused of taking business from land based casinos since the first day that they were available to the public. These lawsuit will hopefully answer some questions for the land based casino, The Golden Nugget, who feels as if they have lost business and deceived their customers due to the online casino in question.
