Online Casinos in Latin America: 2
Surely Latin America holds a great amount of potential but there are plenty of
experts that are warning the online casino investors and operators to not enter
the Latin American markets lightly. A spokesperson for the firm which is in
charche of providing regulatory information, Gambling Compliance, has made
several statements regarding his opinion on the online casinos entering the
region simply because people are going to have better acess to their internet
gambling websites due to a better connection. The Latin American countries
although geographically close they do pose a lot of cultural differences and
that could end up costing a lot more work and time that would need to be spent.
It definitely would not be as easy as other markets, but would the risk be worth
it?
It seems that online casino operators are listening to the advice that they are
receiving from the experts on Latin American cultures and are putting their
focus on the larger countries such as Argentina. As far as South American
countries go, Argentina has the highest percentage of internet users which
definitely makes it an ideal candidate for online casinos. In comparison to the
rest of the world the percentage is relatively low, at 26 percent. In the
country of Argentina the online casino and internet gambling businesses have
been owned by the government, historically. Brazil is another country that is
being eyed by the online casino industry even though it has one of the lowest
internet user populations in all of South America. The percentage of users that
the Brazil internet has was at 14 percent in 2006.
The spokesman for the online casino information firm Gambling compliance
released a statement regarding the online casinos considering entering the Latin
American market. He said: "It is important to remember that there are many
cultural differences between the different countries in the region - and
sometimes vast differences between the different regions within a given country
- so making generalisations is extremely difficult." We shall see wha the future
has in store for online casinos and Latin America.
