Intralot to Enter French Market: 1
The money processing system, Intralot which is based out of Athens, Greece
recently announced their intent to enter the French Market. They are trying to
gain an aspect of the internet gambling world that they do not have license for
already which is the online sports wagering and horseracing. The Chief Executive
Officer for Intralot, Constantinos Antonopoulos gave an exclusive interview to
the Greek Financial daily paper Imerisia. In that interview is when he revealed
the online casino’s intentions in looking for a French license. The current
legal climate for online casinos in France is getting better than it was years
ago. It has been said that by the year 2010 the French government should be
offering licensing for internet gambling websites and that includes this
particular online casino.
The online casino world is extremely happy that they have now made progress in
France. The Budget Minister of France, Eric Woerth has mentioned that the French
gambling market is open to expanding in the future as internet gambling itself
expands and online casinos become a legal business in their country. This step
will help the French government get more control of the online casino market and
the loss of revenue that they suffered from not having a legal and regulated
internet gambling system in their country. The European Union told France in
2007 that they would need to make plans to eventually comply with the European
Union’s online casino policies.
The Chief Executive Officer for Intralot, Constantinos Antonopoulos said: "For
Intralot, liberalisation of the online betting market in Europe is a big
opportunity as our company has the structure, know how and necessary presence to
take advantage of the opportunities," It is only going to be a matter of time
before the online casino industry thrives in France.
