In the later part of 2008 the head of the Malta Lotteries and Gaming Authority’s Chief Executive Officer Mario Galea stepped down from his position as leader of the Maltese internet gambling company. Since their leader stepped down from his position the online casino authority has spent the last five months interviewing and searching the world for the correct candidate to fill the position as their Chief Executive Officer. After all of that strenuous searching, the search has ended. The new Chief Executive Officer of the Malta Lotteries and Gaming Authority is Reuben Portanier. The announcement was made in the middle of March, on St. Patrick’s Day to be exact. The person who was appointed the Acting Chief Executive Officer, Michael Gonzi, will return to his position as Secretary of the Board.

The new Chief Executive officer of the Lotteries and Gaming Authority of Malta, Reuben Portanier had a degree in economics from the University of Malta and has lots of experience in management. The online casino driven authority believes that they have made the best decision to place Portanier as the leader of their company. Among his many credits, Mr. Portanier has served as a consultant for the Maltese Government in which he worked under the international audit and management agency and advisory firm. The Maltese Government is very familiar with the laws concerning online casinos. The new Chief Executive Officer has worked along with groups of other CEO’s for companies like Datatrak and he has worked as the Information Officer of Malta Information Technology and Training Services.
