Antigua in Trouble: 2
The question is now what will the United Kingdom do to the online casinos in
Antigua? It has definitely not been an easy decision to make for the legislators
in the United Kingdom. There have been a number of law makers that have
expressed their concern due to the fact that the bank that helps run the online
casino industry in Antigua, Stanford International Bank which belongs to the
accused billionaire Allen Stanford. The current status is that the Antigua white
list position is being questioned and so are the island’s ability to run and
regulate proper online casinos and other internet gambling related operations.
All of this commotion is bringing a lot of attention to this ‘white list’ that
was created by the government in the United Kingdom.
Some have come forward and requested for the government to be more transparent
about their choosing of who is on this white list for online casino advertising.
The legislators that are asking for more transparency are asking for this
because they believe it is the duty of theirs to be able to scrutinize the
online casinos that are nominated to be on the white list of advertising. The
Antiguan government is not doing so well with all of this scandal and
speculation going on with their internet gambling industry.
They were just beginning to bounce back from when the United States revoked
their business from the online casino industry. This is definitely not good news
for the little island that could. A resident of the island, John Sinclaid said:
"Didn't one uncontrolled trader bring Barclay's Bank to the edge of ruin a
couple of years ago? And the banks there haven't done too great a job picking
investments, have they? Still, they want to bully us." Hopefully all of this is
resolved soon, for the sake of the citizens of Antigua.
