Bodog Goes Down
As you may have heard about in the past few months there has been a big despite
with the online casino Bodog and 1st Technology LLC. The big hoopla is due to
the fact that 1st Technology claimed that Bodog developed its own petting
platform, therefore infringing on their patent. The case against this online
casino is reportedly coming to an end.
According to reports, Bodog might to have to pay over $46 million and give up
their rights over many of their domain names, which includes Bodog. This fight
has been fought in the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit in the District
Court of Nevada. The online casino website may just have to pay over $50 million
after you include all of the court costs. There is a lot of controversy going on
behind this Bodog case.
Calvin Ayre, who is the man behind branding Bodog and not to mention, a
billionaire as listed by Forbes. Apparently Mr. Ayre has had a lot to say about
this case, apparently he's stopped talking. He is allegedly in hiding, very
likely somewhere outside of the United States, maybe even where the United
States does not have treaty for extradition. The online casino mastermind is
being investigated by the United States Department of Justice. The investigation
began when Mr. Ayre was a no-show in court when he was scheduled to defend Bodog
against 1st Technology. Online casinos have to be very careful, as there are so
many laws and regulations that they have to meet but if all of those
requirements are met, they can actually operate quite successfully.
