Gamblers Are Leaving Las Vegas
While a lot of online casinos seem to be doing remarkably well, the brick and
mortar casinos in Las Vegas are not doing so hot. The recent reports released
regarding the state of Nevada’s Gaming Control Board revealed that for the ninth
month in a row the numbers being posted by casinos have taken a downward spiral.
This is not just in the Las Vegas strip but all over the state of Nevada. This
is something that is quite peculiar because online casino play all over the
world is doing amazingly well all over the world because people are looking to
win big. Perhaps the convenience of staying at home is what is driving those
numbers.
In comparison to the numbers posted at this time in 2007, the casinos in Nevada
are reporting that they are down 5.4 percent which in Las Vegas numbers means
close to a billion dollars. No matter how you slice it, that is a lot of money.
The Las Vegas Strip is responsible for a majority of the gambling revenue in the
state of Nevada. The Strip reported a 5.1 percent decrease which is the
equivalent of $525.1 million. Online casino players all over the world have one
advantage over the US players which is that if they want to gamble they can stay
at home.
The people in charge of the Nevada Gaming Control Board are pointing the finger
at the recession for their flailing numbers. There are even statisticians that
are surprised by the alarmingly low numbers for the brick and mortar casinos of
Nevada. They even stated that the numbers posted are far lower than they
predicted, calling the 2008 figures of the third quarter “alarming”. Online
casinos have been posting far better numbers than the land based casinos, that
is for sure. The United States may want to give the online casino ban another
look so they can reap the benefits that the rest of the world is benefiting
from.
