Tasmanian Gambling on the Rise

A recent report in the Tasmanian media reported that the spending in online casinos and internet gambling have risen significantly in the past year. The reports show a $15 million rise in gambling spending for the Tasmanian people. The Tasmanian Gaming Commission’s reports alerted several social groups and caused them to take action in order to try to prevent addiction to online casinos and gambling in general.

The government is also expressing their concern for their citizens and their spending habits. No matter how you slice it, $280 million is a lot of money to spend on any industry… even more alerting is how controversial online casinos are worldwide. One government official, Michael Aird, who is a State Racing Minister expressed his concern about the topic of online casino addiction and said that the government will wait fore more information for all sources involved to provide more information on the subject.

There are others who have a different opinion on the matter. Chris Jones, who is a spokesperson for the company Anglicare commented on the need to act quickly. His point is that the government needs to take action against this trend especially now that they have the information on how online casinos affect their society. The economic impact of this trend has been great; however the public is calling for better online casino regulations. Australia has had concerns about the problems involved with online casinos for a long time. Investigations have been put into place in the federal and state levels, all in the name of protecting the Tasmanian citizen.
