RotoPlay Sues Sportingbet: 2
The online casino, RotoPlay Inc is well known in the fantasy sports betting
sector. Their games include pro and college basketball, football, baseball, etc.
The Hershey, Pennsylvania based company has worked hard over the years to gain
the reputation that they have in the world of online casinos so that is why it
is so important for them to make sure that justice is served if their lawsuit
prevails in a court of law. For those of you that are not familiar with the
RotoPlay website, it can be accessed at www.rotoplay.com.
The RotoPlay website in late 2006 sold all of its fantasy sports assets to a
Vancouver, Canada based company iGaming Corporation. Actually, the company’s
subsidiary purchased the website, IGC Entertainment Corporation which closed on
December 11, 2006. This purchase by the Canadian company was priced at $300,000
which was paid t the closing of the deal but a portion of the remaining assets
will be sold depending on the company’s value between February and November of
2007. This is a great deal for any online casino deal.
The purchase of this company was meant to be a great thing according to online
casino expert and the president/CEO of iGaming, Christopher Knape. He is
convinced that the market will receive this merger with open arms. In which he
is probably right. Online casinos and sports betting site players most often
only benefit from their favorite website becoming larger. This merger does not
waver the lawsuit that is still pending between the two rivals, RotoPlay and
Sportingbet plc.
The online casinos that have a sports betting specialty seem to be growing by
the minute. Technically they are growing at a rate of 7-10% per year which means
that there are more than 15 million players world wide. Yes, this does include
the United States. Most internet gambling sources have been banned from the US
because of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act. Unlike your typical
online casino, sports betting websites are exempt from the act that outlawed
online casinos from American players.
