Another Casino Exits the U.S.
The Bellerock online casino group recently announced its intent to leave the
United States’ market very soon. This is just one of the many microgaming
companies that are removing their business from the US markets. A big part of
the problem for companies that run online casinos is not just that online
gambling is illegal in the United States, but that players who go on to their
websites due to certain laws can only obtain information through third party
affiliates. Websites like Bellerock that run an online casino that features
poker informed their affiliates of their decision through an email. This is
something that the company needed to do to eliminate the ‘heresay’ or gossip
that has been revolving the issue lately.
The online casino has made its “exit strategy” for the United States market very
clear. They will have a graduate withdrawal, so currently players can still
place wagers. Soon enough the online casinos will become completely inaccessible
for US customers. They are not the only online casino that is trying to become
100 percent independent of United States business… The company ReferBack also
released a statement saying that they will no longer be representing any
affiliates in the United States markets. They released a statement to their
players because while this has been in the rumor mill it has been frustrating
the players to no end.
Online casinos are illegal in the US because of the Unlawful Internet Gambling
Enforcement Act (UIGEA) that passed in 2006. So all online casino business that
remains in the United States either needs to close down or exit the market. To
all disgruntled US players the ReferBack website released this message to
hopefully make you feel a little better. “We regret any impact that this
decision may have upon you, and would like to reassure you that the decision was
not taken lightly. Recent experience has seen the USA becoming less and less
profitable as market conditions have become ever tighter, to the point that
continued activity in the USA has become decidedly unattractive to ReferBack. At
the same time, ReferBack has seen very substantial growth in other markets
around the world, and is therefore able to assist affiliates wanting to re-focus
or extend their marketing efforts beyond the USA.”
