Bodog Associates Charged: 3
Edward Courdy and ZIP Payments are seeing to get a return on their seized
$9,869,283.05. In any online casino related case in the United States there is
often a lot of speculation and a lot of damage that can be done to the company’s
reputation. There several coincidences in the cases that we have seen in regards
to the two Bodog associates. Courdy and ZIP Payments were not alone in trying to
get their hands on the money seized by the US Governmnent. Yet another claim for
that money was filed around the same time, only this time it was in Nevada.
Nevada is of course home to Las Vegas, the home of world famous brick and mortar
casinos and the inspiration of many successful online casinos worldwide.
Dr. Scott Lewis’s 1st Technology, LLC has been successful previously in Nevada
in a case against the online casino, Bodog. The settlements were actually a
hefty $46,597,849. Not bad for a case that charged the online casino of
infringing on a patent. They want to claim part of the money that is at stake in
the forfeiture cases before it finalizes. There are reports that state that
Michael Garone and his company JBL Services pleas no contest to the charges that
were brought upon them regarding the money laundering of Bodog’s online casinos.
The judge who finalized the seizures in these cases in Maryland is the U.S.
District Court Judge Catherine Blake.
The Baltimore paper that first reported the filing of this lawsuits sites some
pretty specific details from these online casino cases. Criminal investigator,
Randall S. Carrow for the Internal Revenue Service is one of the head officers
that shed light to this multi million dollar money laundering scheme from these
online casinos. Another detail that was provided by the Baltimore paper is that
the reason why this case is being charged in Maryland is due to the undercover
agent that worked on the case being based out of Maryland. As if that was not
enough trouble for the online casino, Bodog, its founder Calvin Ayre is still
missing in action. He is allegedly retired in Antigua and given all of his North
American business to other companies to run. Mohawk Morris Gaming Group, which
is based out of Kahnawake is now in charge of this whole Bodog mess.
