New State Legislation: 1

The United States has had ongoing problems with online casinos and the internet gambling industry for longer than we can remember. The latest issues with the state of Minnesota have people in the online casino industry up in arms and they are not taking these threats without a fight. The latest news on the issue is that there are authorities in Minnesota that have been handing out written notices to some of the state’s online companies that threaten their existence as a company if they allow access to any online casino or internet gambling website. So far the state has targeted 200 online casinos and they have asked the telephone companies to also block access to any type of online gambling website or anything of that nature.

This case is definitely something that reminds us of the Kentucky case where the governor decided to take on the entire online casino industry by seizing multiple domains and taking them to court for operating illegal online casinos. The only problem with the online casino cases in Kentucky was that the courts had to decide whether or not the domain name was indeed an illegal gambling tool. Eventually the rulings in Kentucky lead to a lot of online casino software providers to remove themselves completely from the market in that state. The Kentucky case lead to months of debate in the online casino industry and what the state thought was in the best interest of the people. Regardless there are a lot of people up in arms about the way that certain websites are being banned from the general public’s use.
