Legalizing US Gambling?
There has been some recent developments in the US legislation when it concerns
online casinos. The House and the Senate have recently approved of plans that
would bring legalized video gambling into bars in the states. Lawmakers who
presented this bill have not yet fully approved it. There are many areas of
gambling that would be affected if lawmakers were to sign off on the plans. That
is precisely why Governor Pat Quinn has not signed off on that bill. Under that
law internet gambling would become legal in the state of Illinois. The online
casino industry is not sure whether they would be able to run their websites in
the state but there sure is some excitement in the air. The new law would
specifically allow for the citizens of Illinois to be able to buy lottery
tickets online and all of the money that would be made from that would go
straight to the state.
The primary issue has surprisingly enough not been gambling and it has been
attached to a much larger plan that involved construction. The plan that
involves gambling would provide more funding for university construction
projects. This is not a new issue for the state of Illinois. This bill was
brought to the table last year but it was not approved because the law makers
did not believe that it was the best moral thing to do for the state of
Illinois. The online casino industry has been banned from the US since 2006.
This year the difference may be in the current economic state as the moral
theory has been completely dismissed. The state has, however made it clear that
they will keep running their government ethically no matter what. Mark Henry, an
observer of all the law chaos said, "Several states already allow their
residents to buy lottery tickets online in the form of subscription packages,
this is another way that the government can prey on the gambling public."
