Irish Website Takes Down Distasteful Game
The Irish online casino, Power Poker, recently removed a severely inappropriate
game from the line up of their website. The online gambling site had a big
portion of their website dedicated to a betting pool of people who would bet
money on whether or not the US president elect Barack Obama would be
assassinated or not during his first term as President of the United States.
This appalling report was released recently by the media of the United Kingdom.
The general out look of this website’s decision to put this game on their online
casino is that of distaste. One of the officials from the United States Embassy
in Ireland said that it was “completely inappropriate”.
Even the online casino’s competitors have shunned the Irish internet gambling
websites’ actions. William Hill plc, the famous Bingo website that is always in
the news in the circles of online casinos, released a statement on its website
confirming their dislike and disapproval for the actions that the Power Poker
website took that lead to putting the game onto their online casino. It is
certain that most online casinos in Ireland will try to distance themselves away
from all of the bad press that Power Poker is receiving for this poor choice in
judgment. There are an overwhelming number of people that are speaking up
against this online casino’s actions and are having to publicly state their
stance on the situation in order to keep their name off of the bad press.
The online casino William Hill’s website even went as far as to say that, “We
have no interest whatsover in betting on the possible death or serious injury of
any politician (or anyone else for that matter) in any circumstances." Hopefully
the embarrassment that this website is facing will set a precedent to what
happens when you joke about a world leader being killed.
