A New Hope For US Internet Gambling:1
As we have previously reported, the United States online casino and internet
gambling industry is in danger of completely being dismantled by the Bush
administration in their final days in office. As it turns out there may be some
hope for the US online casinos. The Chief of the American Gaming Association,
Frank Fahrekopf made a statement recently regarding the new administration and
their understanding of the internet gambling industry. The new Congress may have
a particular interest in the tax revenue that legalizing online casinos would
generate for the United States, especially in this time of financial crisis.
A new article in a Nevada newspaper, the Reno Gazette-Journal, Fahrenkopf told
the newspaper that he thinks that the legalization of online casinos will be the
hottest issue facing the federal government for years to come. Fahrekopf also
spoke about the Global Gaming Expo that will be taking place in Las Vegas and he
said that the tax benefits from this event alone may help sway the new Cogress
to legalize online casino usage in America. Fahrekopf has been a very
influential person in the fight for the legalization of internet gambling and
the overturning of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act of 2006.
The hope for the future is that the online casino industry will generate enough
incentive for the US Congress to legalize internet gambling. The tax revenue
that will be gained by just legalizing several sections of the online casino
whether it be online slots, bingo, or poker will be monumental. Fahrekopf said,
"There have been projections circulated on the Hill that it can raise billions
of dollars in new federal revenue. So we can expect that the whole issue of
Internet gambling will be front and center in the next Congress." Online casinos
will hopefully have luck on their side as the legal process takes its course.
