Former Beauty Queen Sues Tiltware
There will soon be another case hitting the United States courtrooms. And this
time it is not the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act lobbyists. This
time it is a United States poker player Cycalona “Clonie” Gowen and Full Tilt
Poker, which is an online casino site that has supported her for years. They
will go head to head in court after Full Tilt Poker told the Gowen that her
services would no longer be needed and that all of her images and promotional
material would be removed from their online casinos. The once teenage beauty
queen, Gowen, filed the lawsuit in late November in the state of Nevada. The
lawsuit was filed against Tiltware, LLC, Full Tilt Poker and apparently the rest
of the online casino’s online poker personalities.
The online casino news website, Poker News, reported that the lawsuit is a 20
page report that has many claims against the website that breach the Covenant of
Goof Faith and Fair Dealing, breach of contract and fiduciary duty, and unjust
enrichment and fraud. With that long list of charges, the former beauty queen is
seeking for $40 million in damages. The plaintiff claims to have taped phone
conversations with the Tiltware executives which have spoken contracts and
details of meetings. The online casino has been asked for comment in regards to
the lawsuit from their former spokesperson and have gone as far as to dismiss
her claims as ‘meritless’.
Online casinos often get into legal trouble, but that seems to be the nature of
the business. A spokesperson for the online casino released the following
statement: "Tiltware, LLC, has been made aware of the recent filing of a
meritless lawsuit by a former Full Tilt Poker endorser - Ms. Cycalona Gowen. All
claims have no merit and there are many inaccuracies improperly and unlawfully
asserted by Ms. Gowen within her frivolous complaint. Tiltware LLC expects that
this lawsuit will be dealt with accordingly by a competent court in due course."
